I received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Seville in 1987. Then, I joined the Department of "Ingenieria de Sistemas y Automatica" at the University of Malaga in 1988 and received the Ph.D. from this University in 1993. In 1990-1991 I was at the Field Robotics Center, Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University (USA) working on mobile robots. Since 1996 I've being leading Spanish and European projects on mobile robotic and perception. Currently, I am the head of the MAPIR group and full professor at the University of Málaga. My research interest includes mobile robot autonomous navigation, computer vision and remote sensing. In these fields I've published three books and more than 100 papers.
